The Holidays at Disney’s Parks are truly the most incredible time of year! Check out some of the ways you can celebrate the season at the Happiest Place on Earth!
Disney World is the perfect place to celebrate anytime of the year. But, when it comes to holidays, no one goes as hard as Disney. Everything - and I mean, everything, transforms for the holiday season. The music, the lights, the décor, and even the entertainment and shows change up for the season. So if you're looking for a a luxurious way to celebrate with more fun for the whole family this holiday season, there's no better place than taking a trip to Walt Disney World Resort. From young children to grandparents, a trip to Disney is always so much fun for the whole family.
If you're heading to the parks this holiday season, here are some things to consider doing to celebrate.
1. ATTEND MICKEY'S MERRY CHRISTMAS PARTY
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is a ticketed event held in the Magic Kingdom on select evenings throughout November and December. You must purchase a party ticket and park admission for that day. While these have sold out for this season, let your travel agent know if you're interested and they can keep tabs on if any tickets are re-released or re-sold. Keep in mind, you can start planning your trip to WDW up to 499 days in advance, so we can start planning for next Christmas as well!
2. SEE THE CANDLELIGHT PROCESSIONAL AT EPCOT
Watching the Candlelight Processional at Epcot over the holidays is a one-of-a-kind experience at Disney World. This exceptional performance occurs at the America Pavilion of the Worlds Show every night during the holiday season. It retells the Christmas story with a live orchestra, choir, and celebrity narrator.
3. ADMIRE THE CHRISTMAS TREES AND DECORATIONS
Each Disney park has a lovely Christmas tree that adds a touch of luxury, and its worth visiting all of them throughout your vacation! Depending on the park, they are all adorned and decorated differently. All of the parks also various Christmas displays throughout the ride queues, storefronts, displays, and more. The decorations in Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios were my favorite!
In addition to decorating in each park, there are also festive decorations throughout Disney Springs and each Disney Resort. If you need to take a break from the parks, or have a rest day, consider taking the monorail to check out the Christmas trees and gingerbread displays at the Polynesian, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian Resort. All of these resorts are on the monorail line that'll take you from Magic Kingdom in a circle around to each of these locations.
4. RIDE ON THE JINGLE CRUISE
If you like the Jungle Cruise attraction at Magic Kingdom, come around during the holidays to see it converted into the Jingle Cruise! This ride is given a Christmas makeover with seasonal decorations and a unique holiday script! Make sure to ride it after dark to appreciate the lights and decorations.
5. STROLL ALL OVER THE EPCOT WORLD SHOWCASE
Epcot's World Showcase is beautifully adorned for the holidays, and you could comfortably spend an entire day strolling (and eating!) your way across the globe. During this time of year, the Festival of Holidays is taking place, giving you various stands that boast holiday food from all over the globe. Try a Giant Tostada de Barbacoa from Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen in front of the Mexico Pavilion or Frozen Hot Chocolate Martini from Le Marche De Noel Holiday Kitchen in front of the France Pavilion!
6. ENJOY HOLIDAY DESSERTS
From Christmas cinnamon buns to red and green churros, Disney World has a plethora of delectable treats that are only available during the holidays. I adored the Christmas cake pops from Main Street Confectionery at Magic Kingdom. No Christmas visit to Disney World is complete without enjoying some seasonal delights!
7. GO ON AN ANIMAL SAFARI
If you're an animal lover, head to Animal Kingdom and participate in one of their animal safaris—they're great for kids and adults alike!
8. TAKE YOUR SELFIE WITH THE CHARACTERS!
While lines can be lengthy, you can take your selfies safely with Disney characters in statue form, with 50 golden figures spread throughout the resort as part of Walt Disney World's 50th-anniversary celebration.
You'll also find characters throughout Disney Parks in their holiday/Winter wear, available for meet and greets! It is totally worth the wait to say hello to Mickey in his adorable Christmas sweater!
9. GO ON A SHOPPING SPREE!
There are so many incredible places to shop at WDW. From the Emporium on Main Street to World of Disney in Disney Springs, consider treating yourself and your crew to new Disney World shirts in honor of your trip. You can pick up treats to take home with you at the Confectionary in Magic Kingdom and Goofy's Kitchen in Disney Springs.
There are specialty items in each attraction shop as well. So if you know your cousin is a Jedi fan, check out the shops in Batuu - Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios for some awesome Star Wars gear. Or head to Momento Mori next to the Haunted Mansion for a gift for your spooky ghoul friend.
10. TAKE A PICTURE WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY.
Have a family photo taken with Santa Claus in Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom Park or book a Capture Your Moment, 20 min private session with a Photopass photographer! You're at the happiest place on earth with your favorite people in the world - don't forget to get a photo together.
